The Intel Core i7-8700K, released in October 2017, is a 6-core desktop processor from Intel’s 8th generation Core i7 lineup, based on the Coffee Lake architecture. It features Intel Hyper-Threading technology, allowing it to handle 12 threads simultaneously. The processor has a 12 MB L3 cache and a base clock speed of 3.7 GHz, with the capability to boost up to 4.7 GHz, depending on workload demands. This model, with an MSRP of $359, uses the LGA 1151 socket and is manufactured on Intel’s 14 nm process.

The Core i7-8700K has an unlocked multiplier, allowing for easy overclocking adjustments. However, with a TDP of 95 W, it requires adequate cooling. It supports DDR4 memory in a dual-channel configuration, with an official maximum speed of 2666 MT/s, which can be exceeded with overclocking and compatible memory modules.
